The cares of this life, the COE meeting, and a beautiful view of earth

Howdy, everyone! I have a number of things to post tonight. First, here is my Friday Night Greetings video, in which I discuss some thoughts on the not-necessarily-evil “cares of this life” of Luke 21:34… (Note: I say in the video that I hoped I had properly adjusted the input levels of the microphone so that the cracks and pops would be gone. But I notice that they are still there. Sorry!)

Then, here is a link to a post I wrote last night about my first Council of Elders meeting and how thankful I was to be there: “Reflections on my first Council of Elders meeting.” (I covered some of this in my sermon last weekend and will touch on it in Cincy and Columbus tomorrow.)

Finally, here is what I think is a beautiful video from NASA — a timelapse video collage taken from the International Space Station set to some beautiful music. I think it is an amazing video; we’ve even plugged my laptop into our television so that we could see it on the big screen. If I recall, during one of the night time flyovers you can see the lights of, I think, Cincinnati, Columbus, Akron, and Cleveland. I might even watch it again tonight to be sure. But don’t let hunting for your own porch light distract you from the sights and sounds of the video — and consider how one day we may be able to see such things first hand as glorified servants of the King of Kings. Howdy! I had some technical difficulties earlier, which I see (or hear), has set my microphone input levels to its too-high default setting. Sorry about that! I have reset it so future videos should not have as many “spikes” and “cracks” as this one does. In the video below, I talk a bit about the Council of Elders meeting and the Conference (mainly to say that I will talk about them more tomorrow!) and about some meditations this evening on whether what we can truly control gets appropriate attention.

Howdy, everyone! I’m putting out the usual “Friday” Night Greetings on a Thursday, today, since I don’t know what the state of my Internet connection will be this Friday night. And besides, tomorrow is a Sabbath, after all!

In addition to the video below, I thought I would include to the recent blog post I wrote with a few of the “deleavening” lessons I learned this year: Unleavened Bread Lessons for 2012. At the bottom of the post, some have left their own Unleavened Bread lessons, and I hope you will feel free to add your own there if you are so inclined. Central Time Zone Friday Night Greetings

Howdy, all! I’m afraid the time zone got the best of me. I still would have gotten this one in a bit late, but the time zone change messed me up all the further. I had a wonderful visit in Charlotte (telecast taping, et al. discussed in video), and am now in Omaha, Nebraska looking forward to conducting this weekend’s Tomorrow’s World Special Presentations here and then Sunday in Des Moines, Iowa.
