Howdy! Welcome to a rare non-Friday Night Greeting post! I came across this Yahoo! News item the other day about a mother giving her teenage son an iPhone for Christmas along with a number of rules for its use, and I thought it was worth posting here for those parents out there who are also learning to navigate a world in which our kids are drenched in incoming data. Of course, we don’t keep Christmas and the article does have a number of inappropriate words, so be warned of these things ahead of time. However, the principles that the mom bases her rules on for her son’s iPhone use are worth pondering as we parents figure out for ourselves how to guide children into responsible use of digital resources, like iPhones. And some of us adults could probably use a few of these rules, ourselves.
