The Smiths’ Itinerary

Howdy, everyone! My apologies — I meant to get our itinerary up before this. but things have been a bit crazy! As I write this, it is 11:25PM here in Paris (5:25PM there in Ohio & Pittsburgh) and I am working on my Living University coursework after a long first day in France. Today, after very little sleep, we wrestled with the mind-numbing Parisian train and metro system and walked seemingly all over the city visiting the Arc de Triomphe, the Eiffel Tower, and the Champ de Mars. Here is the remainder of our itinerary:

Thursday, April 18

  • Train trip around noon to Louvier for a day spent with Eric and Tricia Boyer, a family in the Paris congregation, then a train trip back in the evening.

Friday, April 19

  • If we can squeeze in any final sight seeing in Paris we will, but otherwise this is the day we travel to Brussels, where we will prepare to spend the Sabbath with Rees and Fanny Ellis and the brethren there.

Saturday, April 20

  • Speak at services in Brussels.

Sunday, April 21

  • Sight seeing in Brussels, including the EU parliamentary building there and some other sites unique to the area.

Monday, April 22

  • Wrap up in Brussels, travel by train to Berlin, and familiarize ourselves with the local area.

Tuesday, April 23

  • A Hop-on Hop-off tour of Berlin, featuring (at our discretion) sites such as the Brandenburg Gate, the Pergamon Museum, Checkpoint Charlie, Berliner Dom, and Charlottenburg Palace.

Wednesday, April 24

  • A bike tour in Berlin focusing on the history of Nazism and the Holocaust.

Thursday, April 25

  • Another bike tour in Berlin focusing on the history of the Berlin Wall and the Cold War.

Friday, April 26

  • A plane trip to Rome and time to familiarize ourselves with the area and prepare for the Sabbath.

Saturday, April 27

  • The Sabbath together in Rome. If Pope Francis is interested in having me do a Bible Study, I will oblige him. 🙂

Sunday, April 28

  • Tour around the Vatican.

Monday, April 29

  • Check out sites in the “old city” parts of Rome (Coliseum, Piazza Navona, et al.)

Tuesday, April 30

  • Fly back to Cincy, with one stop in New York.

That’s the whole itinerary, as we currently plan it! Of course, as they say: the best laid plans of mice, men, and ministers… 🙂

Your prayers for a safe and effective trip and a safe return would be very much appreciated!
